Austin Startup Week kicked off Monday, the 12th annual tradition that provides resources to those wanting to start companies and expand their network. The week features a series of talks, panel discussions, workshops, startup showcases, coffee meetups, lunches, happy hours, parties, and more
“Austin Startup Week has always been about connecting the city’s entrepreneurs and tech community,” said Austin Startup Week co-founder Jacqueline Hughes, and Austin-based rideshare startup, Fetii, is helping further facilitate that connection.
Groups attending Austin Startup Week are utilizing Fetii to get around the city without having to split up and take multiple vehicles, an option that not only provides a better experience but also alleviates congestion. “The Austin tech community has played a large part in our growth story, and it’s amazing to be able to give back by not only facilitating transportation within the community but also by telling the story of how Fetii came to fruition,” said Fetii CEO Matthew Iommi.
Iommi personally participated Tuesday in the Entrepreneurship Track at Austin Startup Week, Panel: “Conspicuous Change Makers: How to Solve Problems at Your Company’s Current Stage.” There he shared the challenges of building a startup and what it took to overcome the hurdles that Fetii faced. The group rideshare app will also be participating in Friday’s Startup Crawl, where members of the public can meet some of the Fetii team, hear about the Fetii mission, and even discuss employment positions as the startup looks to grow its team.
Fetii transports groups and businesses together on-demand. Users can hail a 15-passenger transit van with the Fetii app and pay using a QR check-in system that splits payment at boarding time. The disruptive rideshare app was created to help resolve the awkwardness of traveling in groups of six people or more, offering simple on-demand booking combined with flexible payment options. Rather than requiring groups to pre-schedule an expensive charter vehicle or splitting up and taking several vehicles, Fetii keeps everyone together.
Fetii announced a recent funding round which included Goodwater Capital, Stonks, and Y Combinator. With over 670,000 passengers transported and 50,000 trips completed, Fetii looks to continue its group transit disruption with new market launches in 2023
Festivities will culminate in Austin Startup Week’s largest party and networking event, Startup Crawl, on November 18. Anyone in the area looking to learn is invited to attend. You can find the full schedule of events and a link to register online here.
