Austin, Texas, / January 27, 2022 – Want to earn money every time you ride a Fetii? Fetii, the Austin-based rideshare app that transports groups using 15-passenger vans and shuttle buses, and Freebird, the Los Angeles-based rideshare rewards app, are teaming up to give Fetii passengers the opportunity to earn points for taking rides to local businesses.
Fetii works similar to Uber and Lyft in that it allows users to hail a vehicle on-demand using an app, the difference though comes in their vehicle supply and group-centric technology features. Using a network of 15-passenger vans and buses, Fetii lets groups ride together to get from point A to point B.
The Freebird app connects to rideshare apps like Fetii and gives their passengers points for taking rides to local businesses. The points add up to be rewards and perks for participating places. The free app has two goals: Drive traffic to local businesses and reward rideshare passengers for doing so.
“We’re excited to announce that Fetii has been included on the Freebird app alongside Uber, Lyft, Lime, and Bird…some of the greats in the mobility space. A testament to our niche within the rideshare industry,” says CEO Matthew Iommi, in a statement released earlier this week via Linkedin, “With Freebird, Austin area Fetii users can now earn points and cashback when they ride in a Fetii. As we scale, we look forward to providing Fetii users in new markets with the opportunity to earn points and cashback via Freebird.”
“During the pandemic, Austin received more Bay Area transplants than any other urban area. This huge influx of transplants continues to fuel an ever-expanding nightlife scene in Austin and we want to play a role in this growth,” Freebird CEO Kurt Brendlinger said. “So we built an app that’s all about discovering new venues, enjoying worry-free fun, and earning rewards for going out.”
Fetii, the group rideshare app, operates currently in Austin and College Station and will soon start operations in Lubbock at the beginning of February. It is quickly becoming the next big thing, especially within the Gen Z population.
The Freebird app is already being used in LA and Boston, where Brendlinger said the company saw "a lot of momentum" and led to a national expansion. Brendlinger said if success is seen in Austin, the company will expand to other cities.
Iommi says that right now 80% of their users are Gen Z, primarily the University of Texas and Texas A&M students, who find themselves going out in groups multiple times a week. The other 20% consists of older groups and corporations who hold events for their employees.
